Film archivists, curators and technicians talk about the work and significance of film preservation, with their rich knowledge and passion. The protagonists are custodians of film whose work behind the scenes safeguards the survival of motion pictures. It is a task they undertake based on their closely held belief in the artistic and cultural value of the moving image, in tune with a shared mantra that a film might one day transform someone’s life. This is the reason why we are still able to watch moving images captured nearly 130 years ago. Filmmakers such as Jonas Mekas, Ken Loach, Costa-Gavras, and Wim Wenders also share their experiences and expound on the diversity of cinema and its history. And the preservation and restoration of different types of works such as newsreels, shorts, experimental films, and animation, are significant to the world. The film is also accompanied by numerous rare footage of historical events and people in the field, making it a valuable treasure.
