Synopsis
For their feature directorial debut, co-directors Chiang Wei-liang and Yin You-qiao build upon the concern for the Southeast Asian diaspora that they showed in their short films. This gritty, empathetic and captivating story about migrant exploitation and the burden of caregiving follows Oom, an undocumented Thai migrant working in rural Taiwan as a caregiver of the elderly and disabled. When a fellow migrant worker dies from illness, Oom’s boss exploits his compassion and orders him to get rid of the body, dragging him into a dark cycle of violence.
