Synopsis
After a nine-year hiatus from feature filmmaking, director Mipo O returns with another heartrending tale that examines the bond of family with incredible compassion and empathy. Based on an autobiographical essay, the film follows Dai, a CODA (child of deaf parents) struggling to find his place in society while caught between the world of the deaf and the world of the hearing. In addition to casting Akiko Oshidari - Japan’s first deaf actor - to play Dai’s mother, O worked closely with advisors and experts to make this a truly authentic depiction of CODA and their families.
