A Mysterious Creature Terrorizes Mount Inwangsan

It’s the 22nd year of Jung Jong, and the plague has taken over Joseon. People are starving. Fear is rampant. Fear becomes panic when rumors begin to swirl that a grotesque beast–called “Monstrum” by terrified masses–has been preying on humans in Mount Inwangsan. The quickly spreading rumors claim that the beast will tear to bloody shreds any climber that comes into its path. In order to quell the rising panic and restore stability, Jung Jong brings in Yun Kyum, former General of the Royal Guard and the best warrior Joseon has ever known, to find the mythical beast.

Yun Kyum (KIM Myung-min) is initially reluctant but eventually accepts the call to duty, compelled by the deepening strife of the masses. He is joined by his daughter Myung (LEE Hye-ri), his right-hand man Sung Han, and royal court officer Hur (CHOI Woo-shik) in his quest to find the mysterious creature.

The group is searching through Mount Inwangsan when Yun Kyum’s daughter Myung stumbles upon a familiar location, one that triggers a long-lost memory. A memory that could be a link to the hidden origins of Monstrum...

Is the creature, Monstrum real? Or a figment of the fearful mass’ imagination? Will the king eradicate the fear running rampant in the streets of Joseon and restore peace?
