Synopsis
Busan International Film FestivalAs one of the foremost filmmakers of the Sixth Generation, Wang Xiaoshuai has spent over two decades examining Chinese society and psyche through acclaimed narrative films like Beijing Bicycle and Red Amnesia. The auteur paints a vivid personal portrait of his homeland in his documentary. Traveling from Beijing to Ningxia to different corners of China, Wang acts as a guide and a window into the comings, goings and yearnings of everyday people. Through fixed long shots of different people in different places, he traces the footprints of the past and present and visualizes the pulse of contemporary China.
