Eight years after the acclaimed A Girl At My Door, writer-director July Jung finally returns with her long-awaited sophomore film. Inspired by true events, Jung’s second film opens with the story of the titular character, a high school girl interning at a call centre in hopes of getting a leg up in her career. When tragedy strikes, the police investigator is faced with authority figures that refuse to take responsibility for creating the environment that led to Sohee’s fate. Using a steady hand to expose the sinister forces that exploit young people, Jung crafts a devastating social drama driven by quiet fury.
