In this exquisite debut, director Luke Gilford observes the blossoming of a young man’s identity within a community of queer rodeo performers in the American West. 21-year-old Dylan, shouldering responsibility for his family, finds solace and connection at the House of Splendour, a New Mexico ranch run by the handsome Pepe and charismatic Sky. As Dylan becomes enveloped by this idyllic welcoming ranch family, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Gilford’s visual sensibilities infuse every frame with a sense of wonder rooted in his own experiences growing up around the rodeo. NATIONAL ANTHEM is a poignant coming-of-age tale that celebrates the beauty of nature, young love, and finding a place to call home.
