Synopsis
Giovanni, a veteran film director, begins a new production about the impact of the USSR invasion of Hungary on the Italian Communist Party in 1956. Meanwhile, his wife, who is also his producer, files for divorce, while his other producer faces bankruptcy. As age catches up with him, Giovanni struggles to reconcile his ideals in the new era of film production. Competing at the Cannes Film Festival, Nanni Moretti's latest film explores the existential truths faced by all the lost souls in today's world.
