All About My Mother(bc sunday)

The film tells an emotionally generous story about women's exclusive experience of love, companionship and loss, while at the same time; explores an ultimate moral and emotional seriousness from a camp aesthetic. The hardships of transsexuals as well as sexism are twisted together in the film against the traditional rigidity of sexual identity. Manuela, a single mother who lost her son in a car accident, decides to travel to Barcelona to confront Esteban's father, who she kept secret from her son and turns out to be a fugitive transsexual prostitute. To track him down, she encounters another transsexual friend called Agrado and a young nun Sister Rosa who have impregnated. With death, pain and disease just around the corner, all the women have some emotional burden to bear, while, a good sense of humor highlights the warmth and friendship between them.
