Talk to Her(bc sunday)

Almodóvar is generally considered as a director of women; however, here, male is the focus of the film who is revered to be the weaker and more sentimental one in romantic relationships: they turn the hospital beds into pedestals on which to place their loved ones. On these male protagonists, the audience may find “more feminine” sensitivity and insistence to love which can even go beyond alienation, social prejudice and gender differences. Talk to Her tells parallel stories of two men's heartwarming and tragicomic love. Marco, a travel writer, is waiting for his lover, a female bullfighter to wake up from coma, while, Benigno, a gentle male nurse who appears to be more feminine, falls in love with his patient, Alicia, who is also in a coma and he insists on talking to her as if she can listen. During the waiting in the hospital, a solid friendship and emotional intelligence are gradually cultivated between the two lonely men. Yet everything is disrupted when Benigno's delusion of a relationship with Alicia runs out of control and he is accused of rape…
